Obviously doing their cause more harm than good, dozens of gay rights advocates assaulted a grandmother, Phyllis Burgess, who was protesting in favor of controversial Proposition 8, the anti-gay marriage ban that passed in California last week.

While the anger of pro-gay marriage advocates is understandable, brutally infringing the free-speech rights is not the way to win voters to their cause. I am personally ashamed of what they did and hope leaders in the gay community do what they can to prevent these kinds of shocking events from taking place in the future.
It is not yet known if Burgess will press charges.
