Wonder what it was like starting the first publication about an American First Lady?

In The Real Story of the Hillary Clinton Quarterly, founder and editor Frank Marafiote recounts the early days of the Quarterly. Mind you, this was before the days of reality TV, Twitter and Facebook. Even the Internet was an unknown back in 1992.

I admit to being biased, since I was later called on to co-edit the publication. Still, the founder’s savvy at gaining national recognition for the Quarterly and recruiting an excellent group of regular writers is impressive in retrospect.

At the very least, he deserves kudos for recognizing the extraordinary public figure that Hillary Clinton was back then as First Lady and continues to be nearly twenty years later as U.S. Secretary of State.
