Bob Bahre, the owner of NASCAR racing site, New Hampshire International Speedway, told the Concord Monitor today that Imus would be welcomed back at the racetrack in the future.
”We’ll ask him back,” Bahre said in a telephone interview from a home in Paris, Maine. ”There’s no question the guy made a hell of a mistake. Good God, everybody knows that. But you’ve made mistakes, I’ve made mistakes, we all make mistakes. I try to pick a little of the good out of somebody, too.”
Imus was fired yesterday by CBS Radio for making racist remarks. There are few people in the Granite State who would have felt personally offended by Imus’ “nappy-headed hos” comment. According to 2005 data from the US Census Bureau, only 1% of New Hampshire’s population is African-American.
