Paul LeBlanc, president of Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, NH, today announced that Barak Obama will be the commencement speaker at the university’s May 19th commencement.

Obama will also receive an honorary degree during the ceremonies.

President LeBlanc, who has been quoted in local newspapers as opposing the Iraq war, said in his statement that Obama’s “message of hope, healing the divides that separate us, and his own inspiring story make him a fitting person for this role.”

President LeBlanc also noted that the media attention surrounding the Obama campaign will ensure prominent media coverage for the university graduation.
