One of Rush Limbaugh’s “Phony Soldiers?”

October 2, 2007 · 2 Comments

Limbaugh owes this vet and soldiers like him an apology.

But don’t waste your time waiting. Has Limbaugh ever apologized for anything he has ever said or done? One of the characteristics of many addicts is denial — denial of personal responsibility.

Regardless of one’s position on the Iraq War, someone who has made the sacrifice of serving our country deserves our thanks and respect. They have mine.

Memo to Newt Gingrich: Please Run for President!

September 28, 2007 · 3 Comments

I can already hear the Democrats singing, “Happy Days Are Here Again!”

Word is out that Newt Gingrich will run for the GOP nomination if he can raise $30 million by October 21. Having Newt as the Republican candidate facing Hillary Clinton would be a dream come true.

The knock against Hillary — now quickly fading – is that she is too polarizing to be a viable presidential candidate. In the past eight months she has set the record straight and reassured many Democrats and moderate independents that she is level-headed, open-minded, and possesses the leadership abilities needed to be president.

With Hillary no longer contending for the “Most Polarizing Political Candidate Award,” the clear front-runner is Mr. Contract On America, Newt Gingrich. Other than Rush Limbaugh, I can’t think of a single, well-known member of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy who evokes more disdain and contempt from moderate Americans than Newt.

There’s another plus. . . .

Newt is an admitted adulterer and emotional batterer of women.

One of my fears is that the Right Wing will use Bill Clinton’s extra-marital affairs as a way to attack Hillary. No doubt they are eager to saturate the airwaves with video of President Clinton denying that he had an affair with “that woman,” Monica Lewinsky.

With Newt in the game. . . Poof! Problem gone!

Although hypocrisy never stopped Newt or the VRWC from doing or saying whatever they want to score political points, attacking Hillary via Bill Clinton’s affairs would be too much even for most Republicans to stomach.

I am rooting for Newt to run. Unlike Hillary, Newt is a bona fide extremist, a bomb-throwing right-winger who would literally be handing the Democrats the White House if he became the GOP candidate.

To quote the naked Emperor, George W. Bush, “Bring it on!”

Does this mean we can’t call Coulter a “conservative slut” anymore?

June 27, 2007 · 1 Comment

We confess that Elizabeth Edwards and husband, John, are not real favorites of ours. On the other hand, getting into Ann Coulter’s face on Hardball is something we can admire no matter how futile the outcome.

On the off-chance that Coulter continues to slink around showing off her little boobs and smearing Democrats to the rowdy applause of the VRWC, we will continue our “Ann the Conservative Slut” campaign.  And let’s be frank about it: Coulter is playing the same evil villain role that professional wrestling has used so well to work up audiences into a pro-hero (or heroine) frenzy. She’s the far-right witch we all love to hate, so in a bizarre way she serves our cause.

So here’s Coulter’s photo (cleavage and all) AND a video of her interview with  Chris “Don’t Make Me Say It!” Matthews.

Flip-flopping into the White House.

June 27, 2007 · 1 Comment

In case you haven’t noticed, politicians are spineless bastards and we like ‘em that way!

Lately there’s been some consternation amongst our Republican brethren about their presidential candidates. Seems some of them — Romney, Giuliani, McCain – are ”flip-flopping” on issues like abortion, gay rights, immigration, etc. One member of the VRWC even asks if flip-flopping can be forgiven?

Not only can flip-flopping be forgiven, it might be in a candidate’s best interests to do so. A study by the American Psychological Association found that “agreement on the issues — not consistency — is more important to voters when deciding who to vote for.”

A politician who changes position on an issue — either because of a genuine change of heart or in a cynical attempt to attract votes — runs the risk of being branded a “flip-flopper” by opponents and political pundits. But according to the study, even though voters might have some admiration for a consistent candidate, they are more likely to vote for the one they agree with.

Maybe it’s the voters who are spineless?

Media Matters debunks myth of a conservative America.

June 13, 2007 · No Comments

Not that this will change the opinion of anyone who belongs to the VRWC (vast right wing conspiracy), but Media Matters has issued a compelling look at the real political preferences of most Americans.

As I look at the report, I see more evidence that Hillary Clinton is on the right track on most issues.
