A Rake’s Progress

Here’s what the far right is saying about Michele Obama’s “racist” college thesis.

The material below was sent to me by someone who regularly votes for the GOP candidate. The email was sent to hundreds of like-minded right-wingers in and around the Boston area. I happen to know the man from an unrelated job I had with him many years ago.

I am reprinting the email here. My only point in doing so is to throw some water in the faces of those Obama supporters and people leaning that way so they will wake up and realize that while Democrats might overlook some of these racial issues, angry white men and women on the other side of the political divide WILL NOT.

If anyone wants to read Michele Obama’s thesis for themselves and make up their own minds about her beliefs, here are links to all four sections of the PDF file:

Princeton Educated Blacks and the Black Community

——————————————————————————————

In her senior thesis at Princeton, Michele Obama, the wife of Barack Obama stated that America was a nation founded on crime and hatred. Moreover, she stated that whites in America were ineradicably racist.   The 1985 thesis, titled “Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community” was written under her maiden name, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson.
Michelle Obama stated in her thesis that to “Whites at Princeton , it often seems as if, to them, she will always be Black first…” However, it was reported by a fellow black classmate, If those “Whites at Princeton ” really saw Michelle as one who always would “be Black first,” it seems that she gave them that impression.
Most alarming is Michele Obama’s  use of the terms separationist and integrationist when describing the views of black people.
Mrs. Obama clearly identifies herself with a separationist view of race.
By actually working with the Black lower class or within their communities as a result of their ideologies, a separationist may better understand the desperation of their situation and feel more hopeless about a resolution as opposed to an integrationist who is ignorant to their plight.
Obama writes that the path she chose by attending Princeton would likely lead to her “further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant.”
Michele Obama clearly has a chip on her shoulder.
Not only does she see separate black and white societies in America , but she elevates black over white in her world.

Here is another passage that is uncomfortable and ominous in meaning:

There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black community first and foremost.
What is Michelle Obama planning to do with her future resources if she’s first lady that will elevate black over white in America ?
The following passage appears to be a call to arms for affirmative action policies that could be the hallmark of an Obama administration.
Predominately white universities like Princeton are socially and academically designed to cater to the needs of the white students comprising the bulk of their enrollments.
The conclusion of her thesis is alarming.
Michelle Obama’s poll of black alumni concludes that other black students at Princeton do not share her obsession with blackness. But rather than celebrate, she is horrified that black alumni identify with our common American culture more than they value the color of their skin. I hoped that these findings would help me conclude that despite the high degree of identification with whites as a result of the educational and occupational path that black Princeton alumni follow, the alumni would still maintain a certain level of identification with the black community However, these findings do not support this possibility.
Is it no wonder that most black alumni ignored her racist questionnaire? Only 89 students responded out of 400 who were asked for input.
Michelle Obama does not look into a crowd of Obama supporters and see Americans. She sees black people and white people eternally conflicted with one another.

The thesis provides a trove of Mrs. Obama’s thoughts and world view seen through a race-based prism.
This is a very divisive view for a potential first lady that would do untold damage to race relations in this country in a Barack Obama administration.
Michelle Obamai’s intellectually refined racism should give all Americans pause for deep concern.

Now maybe she’s changed, but she sure sounds like someone with an axe to grind with America . Will the press let Michelle get a free pass over her obviously racist comment about American whites?  I am sure that it will.  But it shouldn’t.
FYI:
I am definitely sick of the main stream media (MSM) feeding us all this crap about Obama being an agent of change.
Has anyone stopped to think what kind of change; really?
PS: We paid for her scholarship.

Wow this is the first time I’ve seen the above material. I was surprised at her “this is the fist time I’ve ever been proud to be an American” gaffe earlier this year. But the material in this blog post is amazing.

This info really needs to be circulated. Michelle Obama doesn’t get a pass on this. Only in the land of political correctness could someone turn in a paper with a thesis like this and it be considered critical writing. What a joke. America founded out of crime and hatred? She’s nuts.

What most upsets me is Michelle Obama’s “whites are ineradicably racist” remark. That’s not true. I wish it were, but it’s not. I’m glad someone exposed that comment because White voters need to see that the Obamas are only interested in White votes. The Obamas are not going to effectively represent Whites nor America if they are elected.

You should stop being so paranoid. I mean Really.

  • Rake Morgan // April 1, 2008 at 9:31 pm

Do you think African Americans were being paranoid when they reacted with alarm and anger when they heard George Wallace speak about race relations?

As a Native American you white folks bend over and get ready to have history rewritten again. I don’t have a dog in this fight, I would say that Mr. and Ms. Obama is getting a FREE ride in the free press. They can’t do any thing wrong, they can walk on water . Obama like GB speak with both sides of mouth, yes double talk and the MSNBC,FOX,CBS and ABC gets on their knees and worship this idle.

As an Asian American, I am proud of this great country called the United States of America. As a child living in the Philippines I remember America (USA) she is not perfect but she tries to do the right thing for her citizens. Why does Michelle Obama hate this country that has given her so much?

All of it is perspective from a group and an issue that has been hence forth ignored. I don’t know which comments from Wallace that you’re referring to, but your mentioning him implies what You already think about him. So you’re comparing him with a a child of his era’s Gross mistreatment and inequalities. Did you really think people wouldn’t have to definitively deal with it?

  • Insight // April 1, 2008 at 10:54 pm

I say paranoid, because it’s just paranoia and guilt to automatically equate Dealing with the issue of race fairly, With some sort of comeupance on white people. That’s not going to happen. Don’t let your fear get the best of you. Just have the guts to face this elephant of an issue head on, fairly (seeing all sides), and for once and for all. The World is getting smaller, We MUST learn to get along and understand one another’s point of view better than we do now.

Thanks you for your comment. Given the type of discussion we are having about race in 2008, I think it will be Obama’s grandson’s son who might be ready to be the first American black president. There is just too much distrust and animosity based on old history infecting blacks and whites. That needs to be settled and put behind us. This conversation helps pave the way, but it is not the open door.

what is this 1% of america?

these people aren’t voting democrat no matter if jesus was on the ticket.

and they have hated hillary a lot longer.!

  • Rake Morgan // April 29, 2008 at 2:15 pm

Lots more than 1% feel that way. It is sad, but true. And many more people lie to pollsters about how they are OK with race relations then boink the non-white candidates.

The GOP with proverbially tar and feather BO. They must have some other torture planned for Hillary. They will both suffer, trust me.

Figure 25% of white voters are still active racists and the rest are hiding behind their religions.

    Sorry it is that way.

What strikes me most about the thesis as someone who supervises theses, is how personal it seems to be. I have let one person write about himself–he’s in his 80s and getting an MA and telling about his life in the context of a bigger history. But to have a 22 year old write about herself seems a little narcissistic. It seems immature at worst.
