As a long-time vegetarian and anti-sport hunting advocate, I had to cheer when a few turkeys escaped without harm following a hunting accident in New Hampshire.
According to the Laconia Citizen, while participating in New Hampshire’s official turkey slaughter, an experienced hunter ended up shooting (non-fatally, thank goodness) a fellow hunter instead of a turkey.
Every now and then, a flock of turkeys saunters through my property. They are fun to watch and are basically harmless. Why do we continue with this charade of sport hunting when it is totally unnecessary and perpetuates the fallacy that human beings have a God-given right to do whatever the hell they want with our planet and everything on it?

I cannot believe there are people in this world that would rather see a person get shot then a turkey!!
