For those who are aghast that Hillary is refusing to “repudiate” her pro-war vote and believe she is severely damaging her presidential campaign in the process, they have a lot to learn about that woman’s backbone.
This current test of her principles reminds me of a similar situation when she was First Lady. Although it looked like her health care reform bill was going to be defeated, she stuck by her principles even though there was a high political cost (i.e. Newt and the Contract on America.)
This is what she said:
“If you are trying to stand for something, and you believe it’s bigger than yourself and you think it’s the right thing to do, you stand up and get counted, no matter what the opposition or the political flack might be.”
– Hillary Clinton, responding to a reporter’s question about the health care reform battle.
